NEW BEGINNINGS... ENDINGS... AND THINGS IN BETWEEN...

I'm not really sure where to start, but when has that ever stopped me from rambling on endlessly in no particular direction?

I suppose I'll start with the "new beginnings". Yes, today is the day. It's going to be a good one. The long awaited 4th Tool album, 10,000 Days, will be in stores today. I'm sure some people are already listening to it, and, for that, I hate them. Just a little bit though. I will be taking a morning break around 9:55 to go down to Tower Records to pick up my copy. I wish they'd open up a little earlier, but 10 am is their posted time. Don't they know Tool only releases an album every 5 years or so? I figured they'd have a ticker-tape parade or something. The least they could do is open at 6 am and have a store-wide clearance sale. You know, in honor of the big event!!

Last night the NBA season officially ended for me. The Grizzlies lost to the Dallas Mavericks, and horribly I might add, putting an ending to a good season. I will say that Dallas is a good team, but they are not THAT much better than us. A lot of people are angry that we have yet to win a playoff game, but I like to spin that. I say "At least we're in the playoffs". We could be one of the teams on the outside, sitting at home, watching other teams play. At least we, as fans, had our team playing after a lot of fans were trying to figure out who their "next favorite" team was. I'm doing that now. I've always kind of liked the Spurs, so I'm rooting for them. I like Tim Duncan and his crew. I just wish they weren't in the same division as the Grizzlies.

Going back to "beginnings"... I got some good news yesterday, that will hopefully be "Okayed" by the powers that be today. It actually has something to do with the dream I had on Sunday night. I won't fully discuss it yet, until the word is confirmed. Let's just say I'm really happy for someone.

Something wildly odd happened last night whilst I was sleeping. I actually woke up with a Tool song in my head. I think it's just fate! Some would say that I've been thinking about them enough lately that I should have had a song in my head a long time ago! The song is the single off of their new album, that has been making it's way through the radio airwaves. I also posted a link to it earlier, when I found someone who was hosting it. That song is "Vicarious".

Okay, that's going to be it for now. I've got a ton of work to do this week, so I need to keep this short and sweet. I'm going to try to return, possibly tonight, with a report on 10,000 Days. Until then... Have a Great Day!

EDIT: I just wanted to let you know that I own the first 10,000 Days album sold in downtown Memphis! Yes, it's the first time I've had this kind of first! Usually I just pick it up whenever, but I was at the door when the guy unlocked it, and at the register before anyone else could even think about it. Yes, I'm a big dork!

Yeah, I can prolly hook you up. I'm not sure if it will fit on a regular CDR though. It's just over 75 minutes long, and most CDR's are only 70 minutes. I'll do my best though, even if it means purchasing some longer CDR's. I know they make them!

By the way, I still really like Opiate. The first album of Tool's I ever heard was Undertow, which, at the time, just blew my mind. I was still in the Hip-hop, thinking I'm a "G" phase of my life, and that album opened up a whole new realm of possibilities for me. Now look at me!!

The song "Sober" off of Undertow is still my all-time favorito Tool song. "Why can't we not be sober?"
