SCOURING MY BRAIN FOR A LITTLE ACTIVITY

I'M NOT DISCUSSING IT... PERIOD...

I really don't want to talk about my dreams last night. I had several of them. I woke out of one and wrote a couple of things down, but it's stupid. The other ones kind of run together and have the same theme, which is what I don't want to discuss. I did have one of "those" dreams that I promised I'd never write about. Guess what? I'm still not going to write about it. It didn't end the way I'd want it to anyway. Too much confusion in my subconscious for me to handle today. I may break them down myself, but I won't be sharing it.

So, I'll have to come up with other things to talk about. I find it strangely amusing that I never wake up with a Tool song in my head. They are my favorite band, and I listen to them regularly. You'd think they show up at least once in a while. Maybe I'll start getting them as May 2nd approaches?

My friend Kenny and I went to the last Grizzlie home game of the regular season. We won, which is both good and bad. This is the silly thing about professional sports, more specifically the NBA, for those that don't keep up with it. The Grizzlies have a really good record this season, but are in the Western Conference. We also have the joy of being in the same division as San Antonio and Dallas, who both have even better records. So, this puts us in 3rd place, in our division.

The way the playoff seeds are set up, the team with the best record in the conference gets the top spot. That is San Antonio. Then they take team with the best record of the two other divisions and place them second, even if their record is worse than a team in the same division as San Antonio (which is the case here. Dallas has the second best record in the conference). The third seed goes to the best team in the only division left.

From the four seed down they fill in based off of overall records. So, San Antonio is #1 (62-19), Phoenix is #2 (53-28), Denver is #3 (44-37), Dallas is #4 (60-21), Grizzlies #5 (48-33), Clippers #6 (46-35), Lakers #7 (44-37), and Sacramento #8 (44-38). The #1 plays #8, #2 plays #7, #3 plays #6, and #4 plays #5.

So, we get the unenviable task of playing the team with the second best record in the Western Conference, and a division foe, in the first round, on the road. However, if we would've lost last night, that would have set us up to play Denver, at home.

Does that make any sense at all? The worse seed you get, the better your playoff position? Well, in this case that's how it works out. Does the NBA need to revamp this? I believe so. As it stands right now, the best teams are penalized by being in the same division.

However, the icing on the cake is this... The winning of our series gets to play the #1 seed, on the road. Isn't that just grand? So, if we can somehow get by Dallas, who owned us 3-1 this season, we get to face the Spurs, who are favorites for the title, again.

It just makes you wonder... "What's the point in winning, if we're still treated like losers?"

I don't know, but I'm excited about the Grizzlies being in the playoffs. This makes three straight years and gives me something to do, other than going to baseball games.

Okay, I'm over that now! I'm still in the process of showing "that" person that I'm right. It's going to be a long process though. Unfortunately I've got so much other work to do, yet I can't work on any of it. That's the problem with not having the information that you need, when you need it. We're currently working on a review in the other side of the state. However, I'm still in Memphis and the information is over there. So, I have someone gathering the information for me and hopefully I'll get something in a day or two.

Everyone else has already received a bunch of their stuff, so they're working diligently. I'm end up working on the 5 other projects I have going and doing some "clean up" jobs.

However, I can't complain too much. It's a beautiful day outside and I have a great view from my cubicle. I'd take a picture and post it, but it would have to wait until I went home for lunch and uploaded it from my phone. I'm actually thinking of visiting the "business-person's special" the Redbirds are having today. It was pretty hot and muggy yesterday, but wasn't so bad this morning. It had rained over night, so that cooled it off a bit.

I know I'm going to go to the tanning bed, again, tonight. I have to get some kind of decent color, other than "cracker white", before we head really close to the equator. That's the last thing I need; to get flash fried my first day and not get to enjoy the rest of our week there. I guess that would mean we could spend more time in our room. *Wink Wink*

Okay, I'm done for now. If I feel like talking about my dreams later, then maybe I will. Right now I'm just not happy about them, so I don't want to talk about them.

So, did you get over your burn from the first tanning visit? If all else fails, you could always try that new spray tan stuff...as long as you don't turn out orange. That would be worse than "cracker white."

Yeah, I healed pretty quickly. The funny thing was that it wasn't a sunburn that hurt or anything. I was just "glowing" red, in spots. My arms were double-burned by the sun, when I was driving back home from the tanning bed.

Adrianne and I have done the spray on tan before. We did it for our engagement party. It worked okay for her, but I'm too tall for it to really work. It didn't get any stuff on my face at all, but my feet got well-covered. I don't know about you, but I had more people looking at my face than my feet.

I think the tanning bed will end up working out just fine. I can already tell on my face and chest. I haven't peeled, which is what I was more worried about than anything else. I also didn't want to burn on top of a burn. That would be no good.
