MUSING FROM THE WEEKEND...
Well, I had a pretty uneventful weekend. I got some things accomplished around my apartment that needed doing... namely laundry and dishes. I had planned on doing a lot of sleeping and relaxing. It seemed like I relaxed a lot, but sleep didn't go so well.
I'm not sure what I ate over the weekend, but whatever it was sent my brain into a whirlwind, because I had a ton of dreams and was in and out of sleep because of them. Take Saturday for example... I woke up out of my first dream at 5:40 am, then another one at 6:15, then another one at 6:28, and so on. I know the times only because every time I woke up I checked out what time it was, just to see if I should go ahead and get out of bed. No, I didn't get up then. I ended up getting out of bed around 9:30, which is way too early for me on the weekend. Sunday was the same way too. I was worn out by the time I got up!
I had some good, crazy dreams during these two days, but didn't take the initiative to write anything down about them or even try to post about them. I figured that's my way of revolting and relaxing at the same time. That makes sense, right?
One dream I had yesterday I wish I had done a little work on though. I was writing a song, while singing it out. It was actually really sad, because I was crying when I woke up, but I couldn't remember it so that I could write it down. However, in my dream I was writing it down, so I actually thought I was writing it down. When I woke up I checked out my note pad by my bed to see if I had actually written anything down. No luck though!
On Friday I made my first trip of the season to a baseball game. The Redbirds didn't do very well, but it was a beautiful night and there was a good crowd there for most of the game. If every ballgame night is like that, then I will be there a lot this season. I won't count on it though.
The humidity started up this morning, and I could tell before I got out of bed. I say that because I woke up nice and early because I was stuck to my sheets. Nothing worse than waking to laying in a pool of your own sweat, right? If that doesn't make you want to get out of bed and take a shower, then nothing will. So, I was up early and ready to get to work by 7:30. However, I decided to take it easy and eat breakfast at home and catch a little ESPNnews this morning. I can't remember the last time I did that. I ended up making it to work just before 8 am.
Saturday was a pretty busy day for me, for a little while anyway. After I finally got out of bed, I actually got my day started. I had a list of things to accomplish, and, for the most part, knocked them out. I had to run all over the Mid-south to do it, but I did pretty well.
I'm currently trying to prepare for our honeymoon, in which we are going to the Mexican Riviera. I don't know if many of you have seen me lately, but to say that I'm really white would be an understatement. Casper would laugh at me. Anyway, I went to the tanning bed for the first time ever on Saturday. After a $90 investment I got to spend 8 minutes in a tanning bed. Don't worry, half of that $90 was for a month's worth of unlimited tanning. The other half was for the best lotion they had.
I didn't really get burned all that bad. It didn't hurt anyway, like a sunburn usually does. However, it would've been a lot smarter of me to head straight home afterwards, since I end up adding to the burn by driving around finishing up my other tasks. I ended up burning my arms pretty bad, and my face a little bit. You can't tell with my face that much, but my arms, specifically right at the inside elbow joint, look like a raw steak. So, I'll have to wait for those to heal somewhat before I can go back. I'm planning on trying to go at least twice a week for a couple of weeks, then three times a week until the big day. Maybe by then I won't get cooked in the beautiful Mexican sun?
I went and met up with my friend John on Saturday night to watch the Grizzlies game. They were on the road, so we watched it on TV. The first thing he says to me when I see him is "Damn, you're fried! What have you been doing today?"
When I told him I went to the tanning bed he just laughed at me. I told him that I was just trying to get ready for the honeymoon, and he said "You do realize that they have 45 SPF sunscreen right?" We continued on to consider how "gay" I am. The high point of the conversation was me admitting I'd spend $45 on tanning lotion. That solidified my "gayness". We settled it over 20 Hot wings and 20 Hot buffalo shrimp at Hooters.
Now, with all of the dreams I had this weekend, you'd think I'd have a little something to talk about on that front, but I don't. I didn't have any last night that I can remember. So, I'll close with the only song I had in my head this morning...
Song of the day: "The Promise and The Threat" by Evans Blue from The Melody and the Energetic Nature of Volume
The main part I had in my head was...
"So we start spinning"
But, here's the rest of the song...
"They all want you for who you are
So you should step outside your skin
Something tells me, that we were meant to be
But how can that be, You run on evil, I run on fumes
And still it , when she came out , she brought her anger, she left her sympathy
And whats she do for me
So we start spinning
You wouldn't want to let us go easy
Or you just might become, till we stop spinning
You wouldn't want to let him down easy
Or he just might become the promise
Well I want you for who you are
So you can stay inside your skin
Ohhhh something tells me love isn't enough
But how can that be, you're not so evil, I'm not so good
Crazy on me, so we start spinning
You wouldn't want to let us go easy
Or you just might become, till we stop spinning
You wouldn't want to let him down easy
Or he just might be come the threat
She's so dramatic she says I'm leaving, is that a promise or a threat?
So we start spinning
You wouldn't want to let us go easy
Or you just might become, till we stop spinning
You wouldn't want to let him down easy
Or he just might become, the one you want
I am the voice you'll never get
I am the one
I am the promise and the threat, and the threat"
I think I've almost made it through the entire album now. Let me think about what songs I haven't covered, and maybe I'll have them in my head tomorrow. No, I'll probably have something silly like "Whip It" by Devo.
