SLURRRRRR-I-CANE!!!

I haven't used that term in quite some time, and if you have no clue what I'm talking about, check out The Click (track #2). They made it famous back in the day. Others would say that Pat O's made it famous in New Orleans, but I think it's a toss up.

My Boo and I went to watch the Grizzlies play again last night. I had tried to contact my homeboy with the team a couple of times since last week, but he's been busy trying to get his budget in order at work (which means long hours of insanity), so I've tried not to bother him too much. Adrianne, however, shows little mercy! Just kidding. She had asked him for something else last week and got in touch with him about that, and just happened to hit him up for tickets at the same time. My man can never say "no" to the ladies, so I might have to have her always contact him for the ticket hookup!

Last nights game was much better than last week. The Grizzlies won, going away, against Golden State. G-State is just a shadow of a team. It doesn't seem like anyone on their team even wants to play. In other words... They're just out there to collect their paycheck and that's it. I feel sorry for Mike Montgomery, their coach, because he'll be looking for new job come the end of the season, mostly because his team has mailed it in. That's really sorry and the players should be ashamed of themselves.

The Grizzlies, on the other hand, looked good last night. Pau didn't need to score 30 for us to win. He didn't even log a double-double, and I think he barely played 35 minutes. Those are both positives, especially when the result is a win. The surprise of the year, Jake Tsakalidis, came back from a minor injury and posted a "du-blay own-say" (11-11) while playing some good defense.

However, the moment of the night came with just about 40 seconds left in the game. The Grizz were up 97-75 with the shot clock winding down. Bobby "Shoot First and Ask Questions Later" Jackson pulled up for a deep "3" and buried it, getting all in attendance two free pieces of Fried Chicken and a biscuit from KFC! It doesn't get any better than that!! Unfortunately, I'd have to drive to go get some KFC, so I'll probably give my 3 coupons away to my friends at work.

Thank you Bobby Jackson!

Okay, so post game Adrianne and I head down to the scorers table, where my friend works during the games. We hang out for a few minutes while he wraps things up. We then head up to his office, so Adrianne can get her autographed Eddie Jones picture. She had a student at her school that asked her if she'd be able to get his autograph while she was down here, and my buddy took care of it for her.

Next, he says "We're heading over to Pat O's for post game cocktails. You all wanna go?". "Sure. Why not?" I reply. This exact reply has gotten me in plenty of trouble in the past. Usually it just gets me drunk and hung over the next day at work. Well, I don't remember getting drunk, but I'm feeling a little hung over this morning. I actually don't believe it's a hangover. I think it's more just the large quantities of cigarette smoke I inhaled last night. I'm not really used to that, anymore.

However, I did have two Hurricanes, which have been known to have a brotha seeing thangs. Or so The Click tell me. Regardless, the Hurricane's did not have me seeing any dreams last night. Just a drunken stupor at 4 am this morning. I woke up, knowing I had just dreamed, but had already forgot what it was about, so I just stumbled into the bathroom. It's amazing, because I really did not remember drinking 3 gallons of Lemon-Lime Gatorade before heading to bed.

Anyway, I had a song in my head today, somehow...

Song of the day: "Stop and Say You Love Me" by Evans Blue from the Melody and Energetic Nature of Volume.

Another good song off this album. I was listening to it yesterday, again, so that's why it got in my head.

Nothing else to really report on this morning. Well, unless you want to know that I went to the dentist for the first time in a couple of years yesterday. It actually went really well. I didn't have as much crap in my mouth as I though. I have one little spot that needs a filling, so that's pretty good. I guess all of the flossing and brushing these last couple years has been paying off?

I was starting to worry about you! I figured you had some things going on, like finishing painting (aka huffing fumes) and that silly thing called work!

Yeah, I couldn't call in sick today, since I was fine yesterday. Everyone knows why I wasn't here on Monday, but we just kind of joke about it. I hate it when Adrianne is here and I can't stay home and spend time with her. She doesn't have anything going on either, so she's at home being bored and watching tv. At least when I'm there we can go do things.

I had a 40 inch vertical when I was a senior at G'wood, so I could get up pretty good. After I messed up my knee (my freshman year in college) it went down considerably. However, I could still get silly on a 9 foot goal. I don't know how I'd fair now that I'm about 50 pounds heavier than I was back then, but I at least know how to use my weight. Ahh... Hoop dreams!

Well, I don't know what it says about my twisted self, but I periodically dream about playing basketball and softball...one night, I was even playing on the floor with the Tops. Wonder what I ate that night before bed???

This is one of those days I wish I could just make Hurricanes in my office...maybe have my own mini-bar.

I've had tons of dreams about hoopin' it up. I usually do when I haven't played in a long time. Right now, it's been a really, really long time, as it shows, especially at my waist line. I haven't played since I left Owensboro. It will be 2 years at the beginning of May.

However, that may change soon. There's a new guy in the office (he works in a different department) but he asked me if I wanted to play sometime. He plays with some other guys from the bank and is supposed to call me when they get together.

I told him he'll have to give me a little slack, since it's been a long time. I told him it would probably take 5 or 6 times of playing just to figure out what I'm doing again. Hopefully it's like riding a bicycle, which I haven't done in an even longer time!
